My Circle Story

Hi, I’m Mitlé. My path is guided by the ancient wisdom of sharing circles, where deep connections, community, and enriching experiences intertwine. In a world often driven by individualism, I've found solace and strength in the collective energy of circles, and it's my privilege to share this magic with you.

Mitlé-Southey-Circle-Holder-Laughing

I am co-creating a (r)evolutionary movement of circle holders. I believe in the power of Circle to offer us spaces of collective care and sacred activism, and to contribute meaningfully to our lives and businesses.

As the founder of Circle School, I teach internationally and have facilitated circles, retreats and courses since 2016. Bringing my unique blend of the practical, ethical and mystical, I guide wellbeing practitioners to remember the ancient practice of circles and reimagine them to hold enriching gatherings in these times.

As a former lawyer who retrained in wellbeing modalities, I seek ways to contribute to a more equitable and just world. I am committed to increasing my capacity to hold diverse, inclusive and safer spaces for those marginalised by the current systems, and to support this community to hold powerful, inclusive and accessible gatherings online and in-person. My practice is more than facilitation—it's a testament to the potential for connection and community.

I am parenting a wildling and when not in Circle, I can usually be found playing in the woods or swimming in sea. In those rare moments of solitude, you’ll find me curled up with my ginger cat on my lap, a cup of Earl Grey tea and a pile of books!

A Journey of Connection and Heritage

The threads of my journey are woven through generations, tracing my lineage across the English, Welsh, Irish, and Scottish landscapes. After spending 12 transformative years in Australia, I returned to England in 2018 with the intention of rediscovering my roots and introducing my son, River, to the richness of our ancestral landscapes, myths and traditions.

Embracing Ancestral Wisdom

Standing on the edge of Dartmoor, I'm immersed in the intricate tapestry of this ancient land. Drawing from the wellspring of our Western wisdom traditions, I find inspiration in our native mythology, sacred sites, and ancient Goddesses.

My circles, courses and immersions are informed by my journey of learning about, exploring and reclaiming my ancestral lineage and my cultural heritage, cultivating my mythic imagination and understanding the archetypes active in my life and work.

My path involves embracing the teachings of the past and weaving them into the fabric of the present.

Fostering Connection through Circles

My journey with Circle Holding began in the realm of the Red Tent movement. Attending my first Circle whilst pregnant was a pivotal moment, I was seen and heard with love and compassion. This had a powerfully transformative effect on me and my pregnancy.

As a former lawyer and certified wellbeing practitioner, I bring a unique blend of skills, including effective communication, holding space, and navigating complexities with compassion.

Guiding Wellbeing Practitioners

Through Circle School, I work with solopreneur wellbeing practitioners to create, hold and fill their own dynamic, nourishing and enriching Circles. I believe that Circles have the potential to bridge gaps, heal wounds, and ignite change in our communities. These are not just gatherings; they are enriching experiences adaptable to institutions, organisations, businesses and community projects.

My methodology for filling Circles, encapsulated in the Circle Nexus Framework™ —a harmony of relationships, reliability, referrals, reputation, reflection, refinement, and repetition—guides practitioners toward embracing these pillars, fostering communities, and embracing the potential of circles in your business. This goes hand in hand with my commitment to helping you create and hold your unique, enriching circles.

My Commitment to Equity and Inclusion

I'm devoted to co-creating a movement of Sharing Circles deeply rooted in ancestral wisdom and cultural heritage, while firmly grounded in principles of social justice, equity, and intersectional feminism.

I desire all Circle Holders who resonate with my work to feel invited, included and welcome here.

I am committed to continually learning and increasing my capacity to hold diverse, inclusive and safer spaces for those marginalised by our current systems.

Gratitude and Forward Momentum

I offer my love and gratitude to Sarah Hannah Martin who invited me to join a community project to build a Red Tent, in which I attended my first Circle whilst I was pregnant.

I extend my gratitude to all who have shared in the Circle experience with me, both past and present. Your presence has shaped my journey and contributed to this modern movement.

I gratefully acknowledge my mentors and teachers along the way, including Sharon Blackie, Danielle Dulsky, Eva Glamaris, Melinda Deans-Draper, Ricci-Jane Adams, Jana Kingsford, Sora Schilling, Louise O’Reilly, Elle Steele, and the HeartMath Institute whose contributions have helped shape my perspective and approach.
